Trusted Roofing Contractor for Northern VA Homes
Most roof calls start the same way: a stain on a ceiling, a shingle in the yard after a storm, or a neighbour's roof going on and yours suddenly looking its age. RMA Remodeling & Handyman's LLC repairs and replaces asphalt shingle roofs across Northern Virginia — from lifting one damaged course and putting new shingles back down, to a full tear-off and re-roof. Rudy works the roofs himself, tied off to an anchor, and tells you honestly whether you are looking at a repair or a replacement.
Northern Virginia is hard on roofs in a specific way. Summer heat bakes the shingle mat, winter freeze-thaw works water under the courses, and the storms that come through Fairfax and Loudoun in spring and late summer lift tabs and drive rain sideways into flashing that was fine the week before. The townhome roofs common in Aldie, Ashburn and South Riding add their own wrinkle: short runs, lots of valleys and step flashing against neighbouring walls, which is exactly where leaks tend to start rather than in the open field of the roof.

Signs You Need Roofing Work Now
- A ceiling or wall stain that grows after rain
- Shingles or granules in the gutters or on the ground after a storm
- Curling, cupping or missing tabs visible from the ground
- Daylight, damp sheathing or staining in the attic
- Flashing lifting where the roof meets a wall, chimney or dormer
- A roof that has never been replaced and is showing its age
- A leak that returns after someone else already patched it
Materials & Options We Install
Shingle Repair
Damaged courses lifted off, sheathing checked, new shingles woven back into the surrounding rows so the repair is not a visible square patch.
Flashing & Valleys
Step flashing, valley metal, chimney and dormer flashing — where most leaks actually start, and where a shingle-only repair fails again.
Underlayment
Synthetic underlayment, with ice-and-water barrier at eaves, valleys and penetrations where it belongs.
Tear-Off & Re-Roof
Old roof stripped to the deck so the sheathing can be inspected and any soft spots replaced before the new roof goes on.
Penetrations
Pipe boots, vent boots and ridge vents replaced during a re-roof — the rubber ones fail years before the shingles do.
Cleanup
Tear-off debris and nails cleared as we go, not left for the end of the week.
What Determines the Price
What moves the number on a roof is the size and pitch of it, how many valleys, chimneys and dormers it has, whether it is a repair or a full tear-off, how many layers are already up there, and what the sheathing looks like once the old roof comes off. A steep roof with three dormers is a different job from a simple gable of the same square footage. We look at it, tell you whether it is a repair or a replacement, and put a free itemized estimate in writing.

How Your Roofing Project Will Go
A shingle or flashing repair is usually a single visit. A full tear-off and re-roof on a typical Northern Virginia home runs a few days, weather permitting — roofs do not go on in rain, so a wet week moves the schedule.
